Attending the Derek Green Memorial Concert

Last night, we were honoured to attend the Derek Green Memorial Concert at Pemberton Old Wigan DW Band. It was a wonderful night where we had the chance to listen to Derek’s favourite music and hear wonderful stories and memories from his family and friends.

Derek was a true gentleman who was a family man and had brass bands running through his blood. For nearly all of his life, he played and helped others in the band. He dedicated over 70 years to local bands - first the Wigan Boys' Club Band, and then Pemberton Old Brass Band.

In 2022, we had the honour of awarding Derek the Heart of the Community Award in Wigan Town Hall. He absolutely loved it, and it was great to see Derek getting the recognition he deserved.

Derek: you were a class act and your dedication to our community will never be forgotten.
