Attending the Cotton Works Launch at Eckersley Mill

During the week, we were lucky enough to be invited to the Cotton Works launch event, which took place at Feast at the Mills.

Cotton Works will be a transformational new neighbourhood standing on the site of Eckersley Mills, which has lain dormant for over four decades and is the biggest undeveloped brownfield site outside of London.
It represents a £180-million investment from The Heaton Group, a fifth-generation, Wigan-based construction group, which will include:
🏡 950 apartments, including 137 in restored Grade-II listed Mill Three.
🍽️ Wigan’s first food hall, with seven independent food traders and live music.
👔 68,000 sq ft of office space with a range of amenities for employees.
🛼 Leisure space, including a new home for Wigan Roller Rink.
🌿 Extensive, landscaped green spaces in the public realm.
At the launch event, we heard details about the masterplan from those directly involved in the project, and then Warriors legend Kris Radlinksi gave a barnstorming speech about the promise our town holds.
We are very excited that this transformational project is taking place on our ward! It will help to bring enormous leisure, cultural and economic benefits, whilst preserving the mills that form an important part of our town’s industrial heritage.
