Presenting Pemberton Old Wigan Brass Band with £4,000 to Compete in the Finals of the National Brass Band Championships

🎺 What a terrific evening spent last night at Pemberton Old Wigan DW Band listening to the Youth Band in concert! Stellar performances from every member of the band and great conducting by John Don-Duncan!
❤️ We had the pleasure of being joined by the Mayor of Wigan Borough, Cllr Debbie Parkinson, and Consort, Cllr Terry Mugan, as we presented a cheque for £4,000 towards the band, who will be competing in the Finals of the National Brass Band Championships at Royal Albert Hall in a fortnight’s time.
💷 We are very happy to have been able to provide this much-needed funding for the band’s travel and hotel costs via Wigan Council Brighter Borough Funding coming from the three Douglas Ward Councillors and 48 Councillor colleagues across the Borough.
🙌 Amazingly, Pemberton Old Wigan Band is one of just 20 bands that qualified to attend the finals out of 117 who entered the qualifying rounds throughout Great Britain. We wish you all the very best of luck and know that the whole of Wigan Borough will be behind you!
