Joining Pemberton Green Spaces to Plant Spring Bulbs on Enfield Street

🌼 This afternoon, we had a fantastic time joining Ange, Chris, kids, and Kyle from Pemberton Green Spaces to plant spring bulbs in front of ProCare on Enfield Street.

🌱 These regular planting sessions form part of the group’s project “From Coal to Colour: Bringing biodiversity to Wigan's colliery streets,” which has been funded by the Greater Manchester Environment Fund.

🏡 With Enfield Street having a large industrial estate and terraced houses lacking front gardens, it means the area is dominated by brick, tarmac and litter. Through community volunteers, the project will add trees and plants, providing colour and food and shelter for wildlife – all things requested by our community. The project will also bring overgrown vegetation under control. Together, these help the space feel more cared for, inspiring pride in the community and benefitting some of the most deprived areas in the borough.
